Ok i just installed everything and started up the computer. When i go into the bios to auto-detect hard drives none are detected. Also when I try to just POST it stops at detecting IDE Devices. I stopped it after it was there for 10 min. Is it supposed to take really long in detecting stuff at first or is something wrong? How do I get it to install Windows from there?

Are your hard drives installed correctly? Check the IDE connections and the power. Set one drive to master and one to slave via the jumpers on the back or use cable select if you are using smart cables to auto config (Note the master should be the faster of the two drives RPM's and buffer and will store your OS). It shoul not take long to detect hardware so somthing may be wrong.

Do IDE cables only go into the drive one way because mine do not have the tab on them that goes into the slot on the hard drive so I might have plugged them in upside down?

The red stripe will be on the same side as the power connector. Might be helpful to list make and model for us. Remember, blue to Motherboard, gray to Slave and black to Master.

Also, pay close attention to jumper settings.

It may help to deal with just one drive at a time until you get them both recognized.
