I just bought a 36" RCA TV CRT.

I have digital cable, when I first trun on the TV I get some crazy screen with Guide Plus Gold, it covers about 1/2 the screen and cannot get it off until I shut off the cable box turn on the TV Cancel out the guide, turn on the cable box, go back to the TV remote and change it back to cable. It is a big pain in the butt, I went through the configuration on the TV and disarmed the Guide Post but it did no good. Sure could use a little help with this. I thought the problem was with my VCR or DVD but taking them off the cable did not help.

First mistake was I bought the TV at wallmart to save $100.00 and no one there knows up from down about anything, so no advice coming from them.

What is Guide Plus Gold?

It is some kind of channel search engine as far as I can tell. I really dont care what it is I just want to get it off my TV. I dont watch it but it is my wife who does and she dont need the grief.

Just take it right back to Wal-Mart and make it their problem. You have 30 days to do that for a full refund normally.

Most TVs come with a user guide/manual which explains how to use all features of the set. Have you read it? Is there a support number you can call with RCA? Guide Plus Gold should be covered if it is an RCA feature - but it could also be a digital cable feature - in which case refer it to your cable company.

OK - it apparently is an RCA feature. RCA Go here - there is also a link for contacting them with your questions, etc.

I just bought a new Sony Wega (20-in) today from Circuit City - and I noted the 30-day return policy on the sales slip. It was pretty much PnP - and it auto set up all the cable channels. I just watched it do it. Then that was that.
