I took my car in to get smogged last wednesday and it failed the visual inspection because the Check Engine light didn't work. I was reading through my chiltons manual saying that it probably was the bulb or the ECU. So I took the gauge pod off and replaced the bulb and it worked but the check engine light wouldn't turn off so I read the ECU code to see what the problem was and It turns out to be an Air Temp sensor on the intake manifold that wasn't working properly. I changed out the sensor and the ECU cleared out but the check engine light stopped working (usually it turns on briefly when you start the car and it turns off after 3 seconds).

I figured the bulb burned out again so i switched it with a new one and doesn't work. I used my mult meter and checked the voltage across the connector that feeds power to that bulb and it reads about 10.7v and checked a few other lights next to it to make sure its the correct power output and they all put out about 10.5v - 10.9v. I put the bulb back in its socket and wire harness back and the bulb didn't light up so I tested it under load and it only puts out 1.49v. I checked all the fuses and connectors and they were all fine. After giving up and putting it all back together the car won't start up. I checked all connections again and put it all back together and it still doesn't work. The starter motor turns over and sounds like its going to start but nothing. I think my ECU Fried because it smells like something burned in the ECU.

My car is a 1991 Honda Prelude Si (2.1L)... Any help would be appreciated and please don't thread crap go somewhere else if you feel like it.

I hope you don't take this as thread crapping but I highly reccomend you have an expert check it out. Anything else you do may just cause more damage. Really, modern car engines, and yours is fairly modern are not meant to be worked on by someone who isn't trained, they are complicated to say the least. I'm not trying to put you down. You sound like you know a lot about cars but if you want to save you car please take heed to my advice.

Can you pull codes from the ECU? If you can't then it's probably fried. Consider investing in a code tester if you don't have one already. Or maybe you can get a free estimate at some shop and have them pull the codes for free if possible (I've heard of someone on these boards talking about doing that once IIRC)
