Need some help with MP3 encoding

OK, so I have a new dual-disc, instead of the usual EAC + LAME, I now have two options. If I do what I used to, I'll have 44.1 KHz MP3s at whatever bitrate I choose, if I flip to the DVD side, use smart ripper to get the "Enhanced LPCM" out, then I'll have MP3's at 48 KHz at whatever bitrate I choose, which one am I better off using? If I'm correct, sample rate is the same as frame rate for video, so if using a 29.97 fps video is better than using 15 fps, shouldn't the audio off the DVD side be better? And this isn't garbage in garbage out btw, because I have two different sources, not to different desired outputs

Wouldn't the 44Khz be the only one compatible with a CD player or do they not care about that? 48Khz would be for a DVD player.

Its for use on my PC and with an MP3 player, both of which can handle 48 KHz audio AFAIK

depends on your sound card. If you have an audigy 2 or 4 go with 48 as that is their native, most onboard or other sound cards use 44.1
