Need some help with Ext Hard Drive

It was easy enough to install and have already copied a drive image to it.

My problem is that I can't boot or reboot with it "on" which is important if I need to use it for disk recovery.
Is this normal? Or do I need to change something in my bios?

If your getting an inaccessible boot device error then you need to set your original HD to be your boot drive in the BIOS. It probably changed once you added the Ext HD.

I was able to get it to work by disabling USB boot device in the bios. I guess I just won't use it to boot my system😕
