Currently, I have:
Microsoft Windows 7
Intel i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Radeon HD 7870 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI
Alienware OptX AW2310 23-inch 3D Full HD Widescreen Monitor1920 x 1080
I use that to check email, post on AnandTech, and play Skyrim :D

For work, I need a dual monitor config.
I am pretty sure my system will allow me to add another monitor, correct?
Now, it won't need to be as wizBang as the Alienware, so I assuem the cheapest 1920 x 1080 23" monitor will work.
Correct?
What do I need to consider in this set up?

For work being Able to multi task on a high res screen is nice.. Such as a 2560x1440 Ips Display..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACHIEVA-Shi...0951?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item3f1ba1fe97 $279$ shipped

And to be Honest the 2560x1440 Ips displays are marketed towards working and such..

I have a 1080i 27inch 3D panel and a 2560x1440 Ips panel...

And trying to web surf on it sucks.. (1080i) you can barely see any screen space and the windows are huge.. Same goes for general programs etc.

I can run 4 of the samethings on my 2560x1440 Panel with eaze.

Just make sure that you have the connectors to put both those into the 7870 at the same time. Otherwise, just plug them in, and on the context menu in the desktop you can sort out the settings for resolution and position and stuff like that.

If you don't mind having two monitors different sizes, no. That's what I have at the moment, a 22" 1920x1080 and a 19" 1280x1024. I'm pretty positive Eyefinity won't work on monitors that are different resolutions, so if you want to get a third monitor someday for Eyefinity that may be a consideration for you. And moving windows between monitors can be annoying occasionally because of the differences in height and resolution. But other than that, it's pretty good.

I'd get the same size/resolution monitors, running two different sizes can be awkward when you move the mouse between the two

Yes you can run 2 diff size panels and diff res panels.. it is just an Extended Desk top after all.

I do it everyday it is not that bad.

He is getting the best of borth worlds the best monitor to work with and a 120hz monitor for gaming.. Just like me.. it is pure win imo.

Do you mean more space because the pixels are smaller and the resolution is higher?

Yes

Makes it easy for you to work with.. you can have many windows side by side and still be able to read and work with them.
