I'm building a system using a Celeron 633 in a MSI6905 go into a Soyo V6BE+ mb.

The problem I'm having is I'm not getting any power to the cpu fan. I don't know if it's the cpu fan or the MB, that's the problem.

I only installed one card, the video card. I have a floppy, hard drive, and CD-ROM installed. I have 64 megs of memory installed.

On power up, I can hear the hard drive spin up and I can see the case fan spin. The fan on the cpu does not turn at all. I get no beeps from the MB. If I remove the memory, again I get no cpu fan spin but I do get a long beep from the MB (which I assume is telling me I don't have any memory installed).

Any suggestions on what I should try next to debug this problem?

How can I determine if it's a problem with the fan on my cpu or if it's a problem with the MB????

Thanks!!!!

I'm bummed!

I'm assuming that you are connecting the fan to the MB with a 3 pin connector. The fan header on the MB might be bad. It has been known to happen. There should be more than one, try another one. Also, if you can, take the fan to another system and just plug it in while in your hand to test the fan and eliminate that possibility.

Gunslinger, you nailed it!!!!

DAMN!!! I tried both fan headers on the MB and nothing. I hooked just the fan connector up to a fan header on my main PC and bingo....fan spins!!!

Aaarrgghhh!!! :| I bought this bought from Overstock, first time I bought a "refurbished" product!!#*&@#(*@#...just my luck to get one that has a problem!!

Oooo...well....I'll get in touch with them to return it. I think I'll start shopping around for a new board or check to see if anyone is selling something I can use....

Thanks for the suggestion Gunslinger!!! :)
