Need some help with an evil printer.....

Double Trouble

I have a Canon BJC 7004 bubblejet printer. It's been happily working along for more than 2 years. This week I got a warning message that my color ink was running low.... so I figure no problem, I've replaced the ink before, I'll get a new cartridge. Put in the new cartridge, no dice. It still thinks there's no ink. Tried another new cartridge, still, same thing.

I made sure the 'seal strip' of plastic was off the cartridge, made sure it was seated properly, cleaned the contacts on both the printer and the cartridge, and I ran the 'head cleaning' routine Canon provides with it's printers. Same thing - no ink. Grrrrrr. I can take it to a Canon repair place, but they want $75 just to look at it, plus $50 per hour after that -- hardly worth it for a bubblejet printer. :|

Anyone out there have one of these Canons and have some insight of something I can try to make it work again? Any ideas would be appreciated! 🙂
