Need some help with 6800 GT voltage increases?

Safely? That I dont know. I use thugs Golden Sample bios for my eVga 6800gt which increases the gt's voltage from 1.3 to the ultras 1.4 when coolbits or rivatuner kicks in under 3d-mode. Every card acts different to voltage increases so I would think its kind of a gamble. Thugsrook would be the one to ask on that one. How do you plan on "setting" it to 1.5? EDIT: probably go to "video" forum and get clearer answers 🙂

Hey JBDan, Yeah I tried the video forum, but no replies. I would use nibitor (BIOS editor to flash my card). I have flashed my BFG 6800 GT to a Ultra in the past with success. Perhaps I should try a different company like a BIOS from ASUS. What do you think? All I want is more volts.

This did wonders for my 6800gt OC's -->http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5982
Was very easy to do and my oc went from 405/1080 3D stable to 432/1180 3D stable. Pretty nice for free and about 30 minutes of reading.
Thugs talks a lot about how the GS bios fairs better than the Ultra bios's. Is a good read. I would pm Thugsrook. Volt mods are always another option; I am just too nervous to "kill" my 6800gt seeing how I am poor these days 🙁

Dont know. Installed my NV5 Silencer before I flashed w/ 1.4 voltmod bios. It would depend on the manufacturer, but my guess, considering the threshold temp for 6800's, would be YES the 6800GT cooler would hold up @ 1.4v's.

I flashed my BIOS for 1.4v and hit 425/1.14.. thats pretty satisfying.. more would be nice though.. considering nv silencer 6.. any word on how those do?

You would want the NV5 Silencer, the 6 is for a 6600GT. They're not bad coolers, but I prefer the Zalman VF700 heatsink. If you want a Silencer for $20 shipped, PM me I have an extra.

The Zalman fan performs better?.. curious because it is much smaller and different.. plus the memory coolers are smaller as well? noise is not an issue for me.. at all

The Zalman has performed better for me at 12V and the same as the Silencer (but quieter) at 5V.

I have an AGP BFG 6800GT and it does come with heatsinks for the RAM. If you're getting SLI 6800GTs, I'd seriously consider a single 7800GTX. Better performance, less heat, less noise, less power, and should be cheaper with the opportunity to upgrade to SLI down the road.

I have been man, but I have also been seeing worse performance.. keep in mind that I am running on 1280x1024 max resolution? You still think I should do it? I could probably pocket $100, buy a 7800 GTX and be happy if I sold these (couldnt I?)
