A friend of mine decided to get a computer so we ordered all the parts and I told him I'd put it together for him. Ive build 5-6 computers so no worries.....
The new system
ECS k7s5a
XP1700+
256mb PC2100(Crucial sticker on it, strange but its single sided?)
-->Labeled Micron oem ram cas 2.5 by www.ncix.com
ATI 8500LELE
My system is in my sig.
I put the system together and got to the OS install. Everytime that the system loaded the drivers until just before the screen where you select the partition etc, the first screen of WINXP, it stops and I get an error message (CODE 14)
I used the components from my system to figure out what waswrong with his and it booted up and loaded the OS just fine when I installed my stick of Micron 256 PC2100 into his mobo. I am currently writting this on his computer.
I put my stick of ram back into my computer and I get an error code on my Epox 8KHA+ during the boot up
-->C1 Detect memory (beeeeeep)
-auto detecttion of DRAM size, type and ecc
-auto detection of L2 cache
So my ram doesnt work in my computer now...? In a matter of 3 hours?
I tried the Crucial/Micron stick to see if the ECS mobo was just being picky, did I mess up my dimm slots? Fried?
I can put in the other stick and get into the bios and when I try to load towindows I get a message saying something like..
c:win32/sys.....
Files are missing and I have to do a repair with my WINXP disk. Well the kickin the *** is that my computer now gets the original error 14 message just before the WINXP selection screen where you can choos to repair an install or reformat etc.
I hope someone has an idea I can use cause my computer is broken now and his works? Back where I started but I may need new parts
