I live with three other people, we've all got computers. Currently, we have the cable internet going into a Netgear RP114 Router (internal address, 192.168.0.1). The cable comes up to my room, where it goes into a Netgear MR814 (in the hub port) (internal address: 192.168.0.81). Then there is a cable between that router and my desktop pc. The MR814 has DHCP disabled.

I'd like to setup port forwarding so I can get AIM file transfers to work at my pc. I know the ports I need to forward, but I'm unsure what to forward to where.

Should I set the RP114 to forward all traffic in the port range to my MR814, then tell that one to forward it all to my computer?

If you plugged the cable from the first Router to a regular port in the second Router, and then to your computer, then the second Router works as connection ?attenuator?, and does nothing for you.

If it goes through the Wan then open the same ports in both Routers.

In any case list of ports for applications here:
