hi:
i was installing a pci modem card on my pc as i just moved and dsl wont be working til next week;
after the modem was installed and I made sure it worked by connecting to the internet, i turned pc off and proceeded to first screw the card to the pc and then close it; but since i dont have one of those magnetic screwdrivers, the little screw fell off, and as the pc was laying flat on the ground, the screw went right into that space which is between the case and the back of the motherboard; as i was in a rush i left the screw there and proceeded to turn pc on again; well the pc came on but after it displays the total memory in the system, it stalled right there; no beep, nothing; so i reset it and this time i hear the fans starting but no beep and nothing comes thru the monitor; even weirder is the fact that i have a dvd rom and a cdrw; well the cdrw as soon as the pc is turned on, the door to the cdrw opens; if i closet it, it closes and it opens itself automatically again!!! By the way i did go back and recovered the screw as i thought perhaps that was causing theproblem, but once i removed it, problem still persists!!!!
here are the specs;
is an abit kt7a motherboard;
512 mb sdram;
one dvd; one cdrw; modem, ethernet card; hercules 4500 prophet kyro 2 video card
and win2k and xp pro installed;
any idea what might be messing up my pc?
