Hey guys, I currently have the Altec Lansing ADA 995 Lucas Surround 5.1 system on my computer. I have it hooked up through my dvd player and use it mainly for music and watching dvd's, not much gaming. It sounds cool enough to me, but what am I missing out on with the Klipsch Ultra 5.1 system? Is it worth making the upgrade?? Also, the sound card I have on my computer that came with the Lansings (Santa Cruz I think), will that suffice for the Klipsch system if I go that route or is there a sound card upgrade I need to make also? Thanks for any and all replies. Sorry for the double post, I'm a newbie!!

You have a pretty good set of speakers already, the Klipsch will definitly have more bass and might reproduce the midranges a bit better but based on what you describe youself as doing I doubt it's worth the money to upgrade (also FYI the TB Santa Cruiz will work fine w/ the Klipsh system)

Personally I would spend <$100 and buy a MAudio Audiophile 2496 card. This is really a professional sound card at an extremely low price (MSRP $229) zzound.com has sale $99 with free ground or $6.99 2 day air shipping.
Digital output is supurb. At lot more difference than the K's would make. You will have to spend some time with the manual to understand the control panel setup, but time well spent.

I use with non PC amp and speakers and it is of very high quality. Also has complex record ability should you ever be interested.

I have the Klipsch v.2-400 series, and they sound great.

You already have decent speakers though. So, unless the sound really bothers you, I wouldn't upgrade.
