Hey there,

Well here's the deal. Nothing but 98SE works on this thing and even that is going down. I have an
MSI K7T-Turbo (Original). I have had good experiences with MSI and think maybe it was just the
boards time.......
Although I may choose another board if the reviews are good and there are no hardware issues.
This what I am going from (BTW I am on a budget):

1) MSI K7T-Turbo2
2) Shuttle AK31A
3) MSI KT3-Ultra
4) Asus A7V133

I am willing to make the jump to DDR ram if the prices are good.....since right now all I have is some 256 MB of Corsair SDRAM.

When you suggest the MOBO give me some background.....I hear alot of people say "IT WORKED GREAT FOR ME".
This does not tell me alot unfortunately. Yes there are alot of good MOBO's out there but I am looking for
something to NOT O'C and will last me a while. Stability is the prime criteria here.

Thanks in advance for any info given :)

I have a Shuttle AK31A which runs very stable with an XP1600+. Also recently picked up an Abit KG7-RAID and a KG7 board at Computer Geeks very cheap. The KG7-RAID runs great with an XP1800+, but you have to flash bios. Unfortunately they are out right now. The KG7 w/o RAID was only around $39. If they get them in again, I would highly recommend them, as you can't beat the performance for the buck.

So you like MSI, are on a budget and want minimal hardware issues. I would suggest that you check out the MSI 745 Ultra (based on SiS 745 chipset). It doesn't have top notch performance (that belongs to Via for now) but it will definitely be better than any SDRAM-only board.

Hey there,

Thanks for the replies...... Hmmm.....I see what you all mean........do any of you remember seeing MOBO's
that had BOTH SDRAM and the DDR SDRAM ??

I thought I saw a few. This would help me with RAM as of right now and I could still upgrade to DDR later
when I get the money.

Thanks

Found it !!!!!!

I finally FOUND IT. It was the Shuttle AK32L series motherboard. Does anyone know if this board is any good ??
It gives me the option of SDRAM or DDR ram plus supports Athlon XP's.......I know it only has 2 slots each but heck this
is really the best upgradability anyone could ask for......
So......does anyone know if this is a good or SUCK/BLOW board ???

Thanks
SladeZero:)
