Could use some info here. I've never had a problem like this, and I'm assuming it's because I've 'unlocked' the CPU.

Phenom II X2 555 BE 3.2ghz unlocked to 4 cores
windows xp pro
biostar a770e3

I cannot for the life of me figure this one out! I see some temp readings that may be CPU but one of them is 50C and that doesn't make any sense at all.

BIOS was already updated to most current version, and CPU heat in BIOS idles around 20-24C

well i dropped CPU vcore down to 1.34 and it is now 39 celsius, how bizarre though, how could one of my 4 cores be so hot compared to its neighbors?

Once you unlock a AMD CPU, you loose the ability to read the thermal sensor on the chip. You'll have to go by the socket temp, which isn't as reliable. The reading in SpeedFan isn't correct, as it's misreporting a value.

heheh, interesting! Suppose I shouldn't worry too much about it if it's stable then.

AIDA64 is giving me reasonable temps

wow my motherboard runs HOT! 50'C

It does show my general CPU socket temp 23C, no 4 core info though

EDIT: after installing a couple rear-exhaust fans and leaving the case closed, and installing the chipset software (prior post was JUST after a clean install of win7), it's 32C idle

go figure...

CPU at 22 C when downclocked idle

To the OP,

I prefer using Real Temps to get accurate readings for the CPU. 50C for the motherboard? I really doubt those readings for the MoBo are accurate!

Are you using some kind of DIY watercooling setup? cos just 2C over ambient is just not possible. The readings are wrong.. your CPU should idle at much higher temps than 22C.

PC has been idling all day, it's up to 24C right now (75 F)

my ambient temp is 21C (70F)

*shrug*

it's from my BIOS reading. I also have this OC"d to 3.6ghz. Was unstable at 3.8ghz and would not boot with 4.0ghz. Probably a CPU Vcore increase would do the trick, but I'm weary these low temps are false readings and it's actually much hotter than it shows.

This is the cooler I have. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...r%20212%20plus

that one won't work w/ my PC. says CPU not recognized

on a side note, my update of the chipset software shows motherboard idling at 36C
