Ok, heres the deal...

I own aphexii.com, and use it as my primary email address.... I have it set up to redirect any and all mail going to @aphexii.com to my primary address on there... That way when i register for sites, i.e. Dell, i use the address dell@aphexii.com, so on and so forth.....

Well just recently, within the past one maybe two weeks, i've been getting spam to all these addresses.... dell@aphexii.com, overstock@aphexii.com, amazon@aphexii.com, etc...

So apparently, something has been watching me enter these emails on websites and whatnot...

Now, i currently have Ad-Aware 6, Spy-Bot, and McAfee Virus Scan & Personal Firewall. All are updated frequently....

WTF are they getting these from??

i know that some hosts have a default type email thingy for domains...

i have joemonkey.com and if they send an email to something to anything@www16.joemonkey.com it comes to my address because i'm on the 16 server at dixiesys... its most likely not spyware

Sorry, fergot to mention though that the spam is coming ADDRESSED to these addresses....

i have been getting bs like that lately....through my domain.

you like me and alot of others are using things like dell@mydomain.com to see if they are spamming/selling your addy.

What spammer are doing is using all he commerical shopping sites and popular sites and emailing in bulk to domains they see registered.

I get google@ ebay@ auctions@ sales@ staff@, admin@ etc.

I would tend to agree, except some of them are way to specific to be mere coincidence....

I.E. i got spam to dellhome2@aphexii.com, which is my second dell home account.... No way they could just guess that...

your server might've been the victim of some random scan on some open TCP port, and they took all the email names they could find. my best guess, probably wrong.

Yea, but wouldnt that only work if i had accounts for these set up on my server?

Unless, they can scan my incoming mail...
