Hello everyone

First of all sorry for my english, it's not my first language.

I'm trying to set up our home network since a few days. I tried a few different combinations, but the wireless from my wireless modem (DIR-645) never worked.

To describe the situation I'm in, I have to say following:
- Internet Modem is downstairs
- Normal Router (Netgear) is downstairs
- A Switch (connected to the router) which connects one PC is downstairs
- A Switch (connected to the router) which connects one PC, one Playstation 4 and the D-Link DIR-645 is upstairs
- The DIR-645 is upstairs

So all the devices which are connected by LAN (2 PCs and PS4) work properly. Even the wireless modem DIR-645 looks like it's working, and connects sometimes to my electronical devices (e.g. Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet....) but I never have internet access on it. My laptop for example shows like 114 Mbit/s, but it shows: IPv4-Comptability: No Internet Access.

As I have listed above what is connected to what, do you might know where my problem is coming from? I have to say that the wireless modem has to be upstairs, and the normal modem has to stay downstairs.

Any changes on the router maybe? I've tried also to change several things on the wireless modem, as it connects and I even get access on it (192.168.0.1 in the web browser). But nothing has worked.

I would be really really really glad if someone can help me.
It's getting annoying as I spent so many hours trying to get it working...

Best regards

It seems that you have too many Routers on the Network.

The DIR-645 is actually Modem/Router.

You did not indicated what your actual Modem is?

If it is Modem/Router then it should be the only Router on the system. The other Routers has to be configured as a switch with an AP for the Wireless.

There should be only one Router on the Network and the others configured like this.

Using Wireless Cable/DSL Routers (or Modem/Wireless Router) as a Switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Hello again

I still got some problems using my second router as AP.

It always shows full connection (wireless), but it sometimes turns to not work (even if it shows it's connected). So the procedure is like: working 2 mins, not working 1 min, working 2 mins.... and so on.

I also have problems with the connection on the devices (PS4 and PC). But the weird thing is, if I'm gaming online, it does not have any lags at all... Only e.g. the navigation on the PS4 or the login on some online games in the PC is laggy and sometimes doesnt work at all.. But after finding an online game (eg Fifa), the whole game it works without any problems.

Anyone knows what this could be?

Thanks for any advice or help...
Regards
