well, heres the story. got a 60 gig hdd from a friend. since i wanted to reinstall windows on my old pc anyways i was gonna put it on this hdd since the old one was real damn loud. anyways, he had always formatted it, ntfs. when i boot into the winxp cd, it sais there are no partitions. so i gotta make one. so i make one. then try to install winxp it sais. its not a winxp compatible partition. but i had just made it right there, wtf? do i gotta reformat it to fat or something? i have always had ntfs on there. wierd..

I had the same problem once, it turned out that my second IDE (where I pluged the extra HD) was bad. so you might want to check that (or the IDE cable etc.)

wierd, cuz i just unplugged the first hdd and plugged in the ne wone. il lgive it a shot and get back

worked, changed the ide cable. it was an old cable (40 wire i think) cuz it was an old hdd. i should have learned whe ni did the exact same thing on my other pc (yes im a dumbass)
