Need some help getting Halo online.

Just got a Xbox and Halo. I am wanting to try out the online play. I installed GS Arcade and Tunnel. Connected both my PC and Xbox to my Linksys router. Forward ports 6500 and 6700. When I go to launch a game in GS Arcade it says Xbox Detected: Not Yet.

Does other players have to be connected before it will detect it? How does it work exactly? I went to planetxbox to get this far.

sounds like you have everything set up correctly.

i'm guessing you get "XBOX Detected: Not Yet" when hosting or connecting... have you tried it without the firewall althogether?
my friend can't connect unless his firewall is completely disable even if he opens 6500 & 6700 still gets nothing


BTW, I've heard of copies of Halo that won't link @ all - it could be the disc

yeah, i had to turn my firewall off completely. Your xbox should be detected right away.

How does one turn on firewall on the router? DMZ? Also should the port light up that my Xbox is connected on my linksys router?
