I have the pc in my sig that is my main pc. We've been given an old e-machine and a linksys b router.

I've set both up using the wired part of the router & disabled the wireless side through the routers setup as these are the only pc's we have. I have a second drive in the main pc that I use for storage and set it up to share with the other pc, which works fine.

Both pc's can surf the net at the same time no problem, but when I play the single player campign of Dawn of war: dark crusade on the main pc, the e-machine can't seem to get to the internet. I've even left the browser open for over 30min and it still hadn't even loaded up the home page. I even unplugged the main pc from the router and loaded up the game and the e-machine still can't get any web site to load.

Any ideas as to why the internet dies on the e-machine and/or how to fix it?

so if you unplug the Main PC, and start the game, the second PC still can't hit google

If you unplug the main PC, and don't star the game, can the second PC access the web?

tbh, this sounds like you need to revamp the network, you got somthing screwy going on, like maybe using ICS for the second box or something.

Ive had both pcs at the desktop, and they both can surf the web.

At this point I unplugged the main pc from the router and the 2nd pc can still use the web.

Then I loaded up the game on the main pc with it still unplugged from the router the 2nd pc no longer will load up any web page.

I'm at a loss as to why it's happening.

Try some more basic commands when the internet seems to drop out on the pc. Open a command prompt and check your ipconfig. Make sure you have an IP address. Ping the other computer and the linksys gateway. If you get replies, your LAN is probably okay. Then trying pinging google.com. If it gives you an IP back and replies, you know you have DNS resolution and your WAN connection is up.

Have you looked on the pc for spyware, virii? Do you have any other routers to replace the Linksys with?

I haven't tried any other tests yet & I only have the one router.

But what is confusing me is the 2nd pc only has internet problems while I'm playing the single player of DOW: DC on the main pc. As soon as I end the game the 2nd pc is fine.

It's also not so much as the internet is completly gone. The flag in the uppper right corner of IE waves and the blue bar across the bottom is their (the one that kinda shows the progress) and in the bottome left it says it's loading www.whateversite.com but it nothing else happens from there. I've left it like that for over 30 min and it just stays like that. Close out IE and try again same thing. Until I quite playing the game the presto, web sites pop right up.

Because the internet won't work while I'm playing the game it has hardly been used. I have AVG installed on it & did a full scan on it when I hooked it up.

Thanks for the responses.
