need some help figuring out this laptop model number

one of my friends at work has a laptop that is BSOD'ing her. She couldn't restore from the recovery partition, so chances are she fried another HD (she did this same thing 2 years ago).

I had her take a pic of the model number of the lappy so I could order a recovery disc and see what I'm dealing with. The model number on the pic is "pcg-71312l". Its a Sony, so that makes sense. The problem is that model number doesn't pull up on their website and even Google fails.

So question 1: Is there a place I can order the Sony Windows 7 recovery disc online? 2: Why can't I find that model number? Does Sony use different model numbers for different stores?

its really not helpful when the link does nothing to help me. I'm not looking for a review, I'm looking for help getting the restore disc *or* figuring out the model number so I can order it online.
 
The question is, if she did this 2 years ago why is she not backing up her data now if we are running into snarky comments territory.
 
sony's have another model number usually in small letters somewhere around the main screen.
It typically starts with "vgn" see if you can find that one instead and try it.

edit: it might also start with "vpc"
