Hi all,

I hate MSI

I just wiped the hard drive clean and redid the complete build.

Ran 3dmark03 and when it cam to the CPU test I got black screen!!!!

Is my CPU shot? I did try some overclocking on it. Had it at 10x220 at temps in the mid 30's.

If your CPU was dead you wouldn't have been running any thing, you wouldn't have made it in to windows, there is something else wrong. Did the computer lock up at that point, or you just didn't see anything?
 
Everything locks up. Just ran prime 95 and it froze after 25 minutes.

Was at 46 degrees when it froze up.

I let it sit there for another 30 minutes then shut it down.

I turned it back on and it got to the windows screen but then went black. Froze. I shut it down.

Waited 20 minutes then started up. And it is up and running. Obviously if I run 3dmark or anything it will freeze up again.

I just ran spybot to see temp change and it raised temps 7 degrees (2 more than normal) and ran it in 33 seconds.

 
UNBELIEVABLE. CALLED MSI. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BIOS. WHEN YOU LEAVE THE AGP MULTIPLIER TO AUTO IT DOESNT WORK. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY SET THE AGP TO 4X8X.

WHEN YOU SET THE BIOS TO "FAIL-SAFE DEFAULTS" OR "OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS" IT DEFAULTS THE APG TO AUTO. SO WHEN I WAS SLOWLY UPPING THE FSB AND THEN STOPPED WHEN IT WAS UNSTABLE I ALWAYS STARTED BACK AT DEFAULTS.

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY SAID THEY WILL FIX IT ON THEIR NEXT BIOS UPDATE.

THIS IS THE LAST MSI BOARD I BUY.
