Need some help buying Rambus ram for Uncle's computer.....

He's got a dell dimension 8200 (the 1.8ghz model). Its got 256mb of ram right now. (4 64mb sticks). I'm gonna yank 2 of the sticks, and put in 256mb ones in their place. Only thing is, I don't know what speed ram is in there right now. How would I find it? Or, could I just mix speeds without problem? Anything else I should be looking out for when picking ram for it?

Also, anywhere I can get better prices on rambus ram than ebay?

Tried that, all it says after the final step is "crucial does not carry this type of ram".....without bothering giving me any specifics on what kind of ram it needs.

My mom has an 8100 I just upgraded. Hers used 16 bit pc800 rambuss modules. It should say on the heat spreader what they are but I ma 99% sure that they are 800Mhz. Also not sure what prices are goin on ebay but a single stick of 256 is $97 at newegg of course you have to get a pair.

Its probably PC800. Anything slower than that just wasn't worth the expense. But this is Dell, so then again . . . Regardless, PC600, PC700, and PC800 should all be interoperable.
