Need some help buying case fans

Well, that will work, especially with a pin extractor tool. However jab-tech puts a 3-pin connector on for free and charges only $0.50 for a 4-pin connector. The Heatsink Factory only charges $0.99 for either a 3-pin or 4-pin connector to be added.

Personally, I used a wire-stripper and black electrical tape.

That's not bad at all. I was looking at SVC because they have the fans for $3.99
I need to buy 5 of them so it'll be a total price diff of $20.00
I was thinking the 4 pin connector was cheap so I could probably do it myself.

That is the wrong shell if you plan to hook to drive power connectors. You will need FEMALE shells (the shell in the picture is a male shell which fits inside the female shell) and MALE Molex contacts (pins that fit inside the female contacts). The contacts are sold separately.
You will need two contacts per shell and a few extra to allow for screw ups....
