I started a business recently and now get COBRA coverage from my old company I left, and it's good price at $450 a month. My father has his own business but he doesnt pay any health insurance, instead he gets covered as spouse through my mother who works at a bank.

This is working well for now but sooner rather than later COBRA is going to expire and my mother will be quitting the bank. Is there a good way to get all three of us covered under one discount plan?

Would it work for me to get some health plan for my business and basically hire my mom so she gets covered and then my dad gets spouse coverage?

would that work and would it be pretty cheap to have health coverage for 2 (me and my mom) under my business?

Generally speaking, you won't get any better rates just because you own a business, it depends more on the group size.

I agree. With only two people you won't see any material difference than if you purchase individually.

Edit: Perhaps under a business it can be tax deductible as a business expense? That would be your primary benefit I think.

If you're under the age of 24 and a full time student, you can get covered under a family plan....

Otherwise, you probably won't be able to be on your parents' account. Most insurance companies want your money as well as your parents' money. My best advice is to visit all the health insurance provider websites and see what they offer for individuals and family plans.

That will give you the option to see what companies are in your area and get quotes for different plans/companies.
