Need some good psu suggestions

ok i have an antec 450W psu and i have read multiple posts on other forums that this psu is known not to be that great.

So what i'd like is some psu suggestions

what i'm looking for

quiet (this antec one i have is silent)
good air flow
stable lines
reliable
450-500W
not expensive (~$100 or less) and i need at least 26A on the 12V line (according to the requirments for a 8800GTS)

so i need some input from those of you who oc

oh yeah here are my system specs

E4300 3ghz 1.4V water cooled (9X334)
1X300gb HD
either my 7900gs or i will be getting a 8800GTS
1 DVD drive

1X120mM fan, 2 140mm fans (external- cooling my radiators)

Corsair HX520

Hands down THE best PSU in its range.

It will make the other listed minus the seasonic look pale in comparision. 😛

This is also because its made by seasonic 😀

You might want to shop around for it tho. I see some at 99.99 Do a resellerraitings.com on them b4 you buy to be safe.

is this what you use?

also i noticed my antec psu occationally drops power on the 12V line, i have seen it twice dip to 10.7 for an instant under load.

so what about the hiper one i have listed, that has really good reviews on newegg (where i buy all my stuff)

hmm tough decision,

they are very close in price ~$15, although i hate rebates

if i'm only running one 8800gts and an E4300 at 1.4V and ram at 2V will the 430W seasonic be enough?

Here's a review of the one you listed

Looks like it should be ok.

Regarding that Corsair one aigomorla recommended.... If it's made by Seasonic it should also get a

I think i may go with the seasonic 430, what is the advantage of the corsair 520? i'm not running SLI, whats the point? (just curious)

does the extra $25 worth it? (dif btwn seasonic 430 and corsair 520)

Breathing room pretty much. With a higher wattage psu you have more room for future upgrades, extra hard drivers and whatnot. I have a Seasonic S12 - 600W in my system right now and haven't had so much as a hiccup from it.

I've been meaning to update my system info (have a 7900GTO now and a Westinghouse LVM 37W3 but every time I try to edit it I get a page error)

I think i'm going to go with the hiper one, reviews look good at newegg and online, the $30 i save will buy me 60% of a new waterblock (Danderden TDX)plus there is a $20 promo code via new egg emailer for the psu

the antec psu i have had horrible reviews on newegg.........had i known this i would not have bought this case (sonata II), though i did get my $50 rebate check today......

OMG DO NOT GET THE TDX!!! its a outdated POS. Plus your going to need to invest in accelerators, and that requires a decient pump. <--- this is to match a regular Apogee 😛

Your better off getting an ApogeeGT. or D-Tek Fusion. Jab-tech also has storms rev .2 on sale for 50 dollars. 😀

Also ive seen demo's of the 520 corsiar pushing 7900GTX without any problems. The 620 will do 8800GTX on SLI.

I highly recomend getting either seasonic or corsair. The company is higher raited then hiper.

Also Sparkey's enhance is a better choice over the hiper. And its cheaper. Another PSU company to look at is some Fortron FSP. However, i would justify the extra 25, and get the corsair. You wont be unhappy.

No when it comes to my computers, im a whore. I have a PCnC Silencer 750. Also made by seasonic. I had a 1KW Oly from silverstone, but that went bye bye with my TJ-07 and QX when i sold her. BTW, PSU's play a big role on OCing with high end boards. Something you should be aware of.

Also, be preapred to be hurt when you push these guys over 1.5V Even on my high performance h2o, i still hit high loads of near 54C. And i hear others on air hitting near 70's !! OUCH, thats very not comfortable.

yeah i decided after i ordered that the corsair 520 would be better.

the TDX is that bad? how is it compared to my aquaextreme mp05 pro?

I have an Eihem 1250 (i thought these were good)

man the pressure drop on the storm rev2 is large

heh, get an ApogeeGT or D-Tek Fusion. <--- both have really low presure drops, and there ehiem friendly.

The apogeeGT with moded O-ring will give you better performance on a dual die quad core also.

I would consider the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510...

Top quality, and look at the specs...that's where the rubber meets the road...

a couple of days ago i bought an antec earthwatts 500. Apparently it's seasonic inside as well or at least some reviews say so. It seems to be good, silent, stable and much cheaper than corsairs. It's got two 12v rails (questionable, apparetnly as many psus it's a single one really) at 34 amps max. It's got really low ripple as well. I previously had an antec truepower 550 (first version, not the atx 2.0 ones) and even tho it was rock solid stable it has given me some problems.
Anyway jonnyguru website would give you valuable information as well.

I've already posted my slight disappointment on the Seasonic 650HT. It is within the manufacturer's promise of +/- 3% -- with the 12V rail at 11.71V. Of course, that's measured in BIOS, and I understand there is a bias in my readings that encourages a BIOS update. I can't really tell yet.

But the same voltage measurements -- 11.87 and 11.76V in a Tom's Hardware comparison review, and the reviewer picks the 600W Seasonic as the best in its class.

I'd just rather see it show up as 11.95V on that rail -- that's all.
