I have introduced a few people to modern computers and have found the most difficult thing to be helping them to not be frightened by the computer. :Q
So I am helping this guy I work with build a new box, It will be
asus an78x-e
mobile 2600
512 meg corsair value ddr400
ati 9600 pro
cdrw
200 gig Seagate.
Not a bad starter box with a decent upgrade path if needed, This guy is in his 50's and probably will use this machine for internet banking, ebay, home budget, listening to music, not a gamer for sure.
So I am going to his house this weekend to help him build it, keeping in mind this guy last had a commodore vic series comp this is a whole new world to him.
I plan to do the build myself and thoroughly explain the components and how they interact as I go along.
I will then let him install and configure the software with me as a guide and try to offer insight as we go along.
Then I will go home.
My concern is that my Friend will not have enough windows knowledge to use the box and I will get 3 months worth of phone calls and questions. Or worse he will be too proud to ask and just let the box sit unused.
So I plan to give him a bunch of educational links on using xp,understanding Internet dangers, and security.
any help is appreciated and I apologize for the scattered brain this morning.
