Need some EXTREME help with these Fan readings on my Artic Accelero Xtreme

I just bought a Geforce GTX 480 with an aftermarket Arctic Accelero Xtreme triple fan mounted on it. Idle's at 38c, when I open up HWmonitor it shows all 3 fans are running at 44% under GPU's PWM, I then proceed to go to msi afterburner and turn the fan speed up to 100% and only 2 of the 3 fans speeds change to 100% while the 3rd stays at 44%. Am I doing something wrong?

If its aftermarket how are the fans connected?

They're plugged into one another and are powered up through the PCI express port/6+8pin.....

If I understand correctly these fans are thermally controlled as is, why would you want to speed them up unnecessarily?
