Need some DVD-R and camcorder advice...

I've been asked to buy the hardware and software to make it possible to record video from a camcorder and put the video on DVDs. I can't spend more than $500 on each other otherwise money isnt really an issue. Here is what Im thinking about getting

Canon ZR65MC Mini DV Camcorder
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...205&manufactory=1213&DEPA=1&sortby=14&order=1

Plextor 8X DVD-RW +RW DVD Recorder - Model PX-708A/SW-BL Black Retail
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=27-131-311

Canon Accessory Kit for the Canon ZR Series Camcorders
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=30-999-255

And it seems I will need a capture card or something firewireish to get the video off the camcorder. Also, What is good software to burn the DVDs with?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

we actually did something similiar tonight with our wedding video.. accept all we did was hook the vcr up to the pc and capture it that way and then burn it to the dvd

with a budget, I would spend as less as possible on the dvd burner and more on the camcorder. Not familiar with that camera, but to answer a few other questions. You will need a capture card and firewire cable. Lot of software to burn, nero, roxio, the main ones... Editing is a different story, I use & like pinnacle studio 8.

edit: what does $500 on each mean? dual 4x dvd burners are running <$100

Money is an issue, just each order I place cannot exceed $500. So basically, I can get anything as long as one item is not over $500.

$500 limit cc? hmm, capture card & cable ~$50, burner ~$150(8x), but $500 for the camcorder.

well, canon makes a good product, that one is in your budget. Check out pinnacle studio, iirc you can get the editing software, the ieee cable, & the capture card for $80-100.

oh, b/c you just said it was an issue in your last post. 😉😛 If it is not an issue, Id go with a sony camcorder.

hehe ok I guess I am not explaining very well. I could order $2000 worth of stuff if wanted to, but no single item can exceed $500. So I could make 4 $500 orders and it would be ok. So, besides the camcorder, there is no other item that will come near $500, that is why I am getting the Plextor burner.

Yeah ive got that part down, just need to pick out the card and the software to get.

don't forget a IEEE cable, b/c the cables that come with the comcorder are just usb 2.0(digital stills only) the the rca cables.

Eh...if money isnt really an issue, other then the $500 limit. Spending $500 on a camcorder will not get you anything near GREAT quality. Dont get me wrong, this camera would be fine for home videos, but if you are interested in getting something better then home video quality then you will need to spend more then $500 on a camera.
