I eventually plan to do DIY speakers for my HT, but I just want something fairly inexpensive to satisfy me in the mean time so obviously trying to stay under $3-400 for a temporary set of speakers, I have receiver and sub already setup.

I really only Need the center and fronts and saw these on craigslist: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/1015703380.html

They any good? Never really heard much about Athena. Keep in mind it will just be a temporary setup til I get funds together for my real build.

I'm using those exact speakers (see sig) and have been happy with them. Many people consider them to be on the bright side so that's something to keep in mind. I found them to be a little harsh when I bought mine new but after a few months they mellowed out and now I I like their clarity.

They don't list model numbers so in case you didn't know those are the AS-F2 towers and AS-C1 center. The towers actually have dual 8" woofers, not 6.5" like the listing says. Also the tweeters aren't aluminum. Better to just check the specs on the manufacturer site.

Athenas can't be bought new anymore so they're a little harder to find since Klipsch bought their parent company. Right before they started disappearing from retail the F2 towers sold for $400 a pair and the C1 for about $120. $350 isn't a bad deal if they're in good shape. Maybe you can haggle them down $25-$50 though.

They are good for temporary speakers, try to haggle down to 300$ and also make sure they work (all woofers function, tweeters function) prior to purchase.
