Getting Benchmark DAC1 to hook up to two of these: Event Studio Precision 8 Active Monitor

This is all going to be run on my computer. Anyway, what cables do I need to hook up the Benchmark DAC1 up to my monitors? I want some high-quality ones.

I was looking at these but wasn't sure if it was going to work. Can someone who knows something about this help me?

edit: also, I am going to buy some stands for these monitors. Anyway, I have a choice between 36" stands and 24" stands. The 36" would put the monitors at my ear level, and the 24" would put them a bit under my shoulders. Which should or go for, or does it not make a difference?

you need XLR "microphone" cables to hook up those speakers to that DAC. that cable you linked to is an digital cable, so it won't work (or if it does it won't sound as good). your monitors take balanced analog XLR connections (that means a mic cable). mogami is an excellent cable company, though. they are vastly superior to monster. i don't see the appropriate cable from mogami on that website, though. check out musiciansfriend, they a have lots bigger selection. try to keep the cable length down, but it won't matter as much as other types of cables because the whole "balanced" thing means the input/output devices have noise cancellation. also, the signal is hot as hell, so that helps, too.

get the ear-level monitor stands. those monitors are "near-field," which means you want to sit right in front of them, with them pointed right at your ears. the idea is they sit on top of a large mixing console, and you're about 4-8 feet from the drivers. if you move to the side or back or forward out of the narrow listening field, it will sound weird.

edit: usually they are placed ~4-5 feet apart and you sit ~6 feet back from them.

Thanks, just the kind of reply I was looking for.

Cable wise, I couldn't find anything decent at MF the last time I looked, picked up a set of MQ-102 Blue cables from here and they work beautifully:D
