I think I need like 150 feet for 5 speakers. I have a $300 JBL speaker package I bought like 2 years ago. The sound is great. Well My living room is small I don't know the exact dimensions but I need some recommendations on speaker wire and a good place to order them. I'd like to have the spool for this coming weekend.

I appreciate any help.

Go to home depot and ask for in wall speaker wires. Depending on what your longest run is, you decide on the gauge. In wall wires have to have fire resistant/retardant sleeves. If you are not too picky and have left over romex from wiring your place, you can just use romex.

What do you guys think about this from Parts Express.

Do you know if you got conduits in the walls? Running in wall is no easy task. Anything stopping you from going to local store? shipping for wires gets expensive since they are quite heavy. IF you are running in wall, you may as well terminate in wall plates.

cheaper, probably better wire.

What is your longest run? Take a look at the gauge/load table for maximum length. I use 12GA from Home Depot. Not in wall rated (since I don't have it in wall) but it was like C$1.40 a Metre.

I just get cable from the local Menards, Lowes etc. They have all different gauges and usually have it in spools of various lengths. Can probably find it cheaper online but with shipping it might not be much different.

And I never understood the point of in-wall ratings on cables like this. Electrical cable sure, but speaker cable or other a/v type cable? What's it going to do, start a fire?

Not about them starting fire, rather, the sleeves have to be fire retardant, just like Romex.
