On my OC'd rigs I use the Alpha PAL8045 and it does a really nice job. On non-OC'd rigs I use a generic HSF that a local store sells. Does a real nice job and is quiet. There are tons of HSF options available now, but one name that comes to mind for lower-end HSF is Vantec. They offer Al and Cu units, and they do a decent job for the money.

Thanks, I dont OC any of the rigs I have built, or run, just usually get the fan with the CPU, so never paid that much attention, long as they worked I was happy.

That should be fine. An important factor is other cooling - you can have the best HeatSink-Fan yet it wont cool very well if you dont have some sort of airflow through the case

You probably know that anyway :)

I like Thermaltake Volcano 6cu. It's about 12-14 bucks everywhere. A little too wide for some motherboards(like Shuttle AK31A), but I think it's reasonably quiet(compared to the Delta fans).

Well I ordered cooler masters for the two boards. They were 15.00 each. But made sure they would do the job for the xp processors.
Oh and back when the cyber cooler deal was going got 4 of those fans for case cooling, and the free hard drive fan. And I have had at least 1 256 meg DDR mem stick since they were priced right awhile back too. Got one just for the heck of it. Now I am glad I held onto it.
We are gettin ready to put our house on the market and need to get all these parts in machines instead of boxes everywhere.
Thanks for all your help.

I just switched out my retail Master Cooler with a SVC Golden Gate w/40 CFM fan and it's super loud!! It's like a jet engine. :(

Like KCJeeper, I like to use Pal8045's with my overclocked rigs. Even with a Papst 8412NGL they keep fairly cool and are virtually silent.
I've also cooled a few XP 1600+'s with Volcano 3's and they usually run at around 44 degrees under full load, which is satisfactory, and actually surprisingly good for such a cheap unit($12 Canadian - virtually free in US dollars)
