Need some advise for 1099 misc.

Ok so I need some advise preparing 1099 misc. My boss ask me if i can prepare them for the small business of 3-4 people and since I worked in tax office before and I say sure. I ordered the official IRS form for free from irs and i was reading the instruction. If I read it correctly, only the 1099 misc that need to be mail in to IRS is the red paper one that can be read by the machine.

In that case, can I hand written the red irs form and then print out the other one that need to be mail to the employee, including myself?

If they are an employee they need a w2 not a 1099. Your also about a month late sending them out. Sounds right though, I just let turbo tax do it all for me so I can't say for sure, it should be really simple.

I know i am late, my boss ask me about it on jan 30/31 and didn;t get the data to me a few days later. these are all contracted worker so it is 1099 misc. The best I can do now is fill it before the end of the month to mininize the fine.
