Hey everyone..... im new one these forums. Ive been reading some articles about the new Atlon XP processor and which mobo´s that support it.
I have a Asus A7V-133 with Raid, and im thinking of buying a new processor "Currently have a Duron 700 :)" And the new Atlon XP seems like a kick ass choice. But will this processor work in my mobo, dont know what revision i have?? How do i find out??.....
And how much heat does it develop, I have a Silverado cooler which has support until 1500 Mhz ThunderBird. Im I right when i assume that these new XP processors develop less heat at same Mhz ?? Im thinkin of buying the 1600+ which is 1400 MHz.... do u guys think that my Cooler will be able to keep at a acceptable tempature......

Hope u guys can answer my questions, this seems to be a awsome forum...

yeah the xp should work fine in your board

you will probably want to download and flash the newest bios revision.

as for temp the new xp should be fine with any cpu that works for tbirds (actually not as hot as the tbirds)
i would think your current hsf will be plenty to keep a 1600+ cool

i guess i didnt answer all of your questions

on a7v133 the motherboard revision is printed on the board itself between the bottom and the second to bottom pci slot (this is the motherboard revision, not the bios version)

to check the bios version you can look it up in asus probe, it also tells you the bios version when the system is first starting to boot up (you will need one of the newer bios for the board to work right with the athlonxp)
