Need some advice

Ok, I need some advice.

I went to a MAJOR tire and wheel place today to get my new rims and tires put on, which I bought from this company.

They did a good job on the wheels and tires, and I have no problems with that. I thought it was odd that the guy had me walk into the garage and pull my car out myself. (everyone else had an employee pull their car out, bring it around, and hand them the keys.)

I thought I saw some white stuff on my door, but I felt pressured to get out of the garage, so I pulled out and parked in a spot nearby. I got out and looked at the door and there were 2 huge scratches. I got pissed and went back to the place, then I got the runaround by an employee and then the manager. My mom came with me to help my bring my old tires/wheels back home so she is the one that mostly spoke to them.

They denied it was even POSSIBLE that they did it, and kept trying to use reverse psychology and all this BS. Im 1000000% convinced that they made the scratches, and it was done right in their garage. I think the reason they had me pull the car out was because he didnt want the car to be in the light, where I would most definetely see the scratches.

So my question is, what would you do in this situation? Im gonna call the corporate office tomorrow, and try and get them to do something. I just want my door fixed, nothing more. Im pretty sure the manager thinks I already had the scratches there and im trying to get them to fix it.

And if youre curious, the car is a 1998 Ford Contour SVT , the wheels are 17" Rage Breakers, and the tires are Nitto nt-450s.

Thanks for any replies, and sorry for making it so long.

1. Police report
2. Call your insurance company

Stand back and let the chips fall where they may. They are screwing you. Most "tire places" even the major ones feature HS dropout employees that will rifle your glovebox/trunk the second you turn your back. Welcome to the real world.

Good luck nailing the scumbags to the wall.

edit
They pulled the car in too close to the lift and rubbed against something...pretty obvious. Again, guys not much older than you (no offense) that have no morals and have only been working there two weeks and could care less. The age of "Customer Service" is truly dead.

My deductable is $500, so I wasnt really thinking of contacting my insurance company. What would filing a police report do ?
No offense taken, I know some young people just dont have respect like older people do, im definetely not one of them.

Not really related, but reminded me of something that happened today:

I was getting a new back tire put on my bike, and after all the work was done I was charged something like $58. I asked if that was for the labor, and the guy behind the counter said yeah, that and disposal fees. So I'm paying, then I wait...sit and think for a few seconds...have a conscience attack...and let the guy know that I didn't actually pay for the tire itself yet, either. Tack on another $116 after a 10% discount. Heh.

Edit: and filing a police report makes the grievance "official" in a sense. I'm not sure if the police would actually do anything about it, but if you ever end up taking this to court, then the first thing you'll be asked for by the judge is your police report. Not filing one makes it seem as though you're making the entire event up.

I wasn't dinging you...sorry if it seemed that way. I was dinging the dingalings at the tire place. Typically, the manager is 25 and the workers are under 21...at least here in my city.

As Whisper said, the police report makes it offical and w/o it, it MAY appear that you're making it up after the fact. Do it. Get the report; inconvenience your local PD; they aren't doing anythign anyway.

This manager was like 40+ and he was one of the biggest A-holes ive ever met. He was treating my mom like she was a child, and every chance he had he would try and make her feel stupid. Shes smarter than him though, so it didnt really work out for him. I guess theres a reason why hes that old and working at a place that gives you discounts on tires ;)

Ill try and get that police report, last time I didnt listen to the people on ATOT when I had a question, a guy ripped me off for $200+. Thanks MichaelD and Whisper.

If anyone else has anything to add, ill be glad to hear it. Maybe someone else has been in a similar situation.

Don't be ripping on old people and I won't rip on you for driving a Ford Contour.

That was a horribly ignorant statement and I dont even know how to respond. I guess I can say

A.) I wasnt ripping on old people (40 isnt even old) but I was ripping on him for working at a tire place.
B.) Its not a regular contour, its an SVT Contour which is a totally different car. I bet its better than your Geo but I wont go into that.
C.) Stay out of my thread, im not looking for an e-fight, i have real life things to worry about. Try getting a life and see how you like it

Tell that to anyone that knows anything about cars. What kind of car do you have ?

A contour svt isnt that bad for a 17 year old either, its what I wanted since I was 12. So read up on it, and if you still think its a chick car then I feel sorry for you.

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. That's my newest car. Any other questions?

Look, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I am gonna drop out of your thread as requested.

If youre smart enough to buy a vette you should be smart enough to realize not to rip on a 17 year old thats asking an innocent question. I never ripped on old people and my car isnt a chick car.

I think you realized that and maybe looked up the SVT on google real quick.
