Ok I am tired of running temps up to 65º while gaming and having everything lag on me b/c my volcano 7 isn't doing it's job.

Right now my temps are:

Case: 40º C
CPU: 52º C

And I have NOTHING open but this IE window. Given my room is kind of warm being in the south but I should have better temps then that!

I have an AMD XP 2100+ and an ECS K7S5A as far as hardware information.

I am looking for a case that looks nice and has excellent circulation. I am also looking for a new heatsink and fan that will cool my 2100+ to the low 40's - high 30's.

I can spend up to $200 and I don't care about sound. Noise doesn't bother me. If I can get a watercooled case with all the hardware integrated to make it a dummy installation I will do it if it's in the price range, Just tell me where to go to order.

I would prefer a heatsink that "screws" on to the 4 holes in the mobo around the cpu socket. I've screwed up a previous K7S5a b/c the screwdriver kept slipping off the clip and I damaged some critical circuitry. A thumb button to release the heatsink would be acceptable as well.

Please respond quickly, I'd like to order in the next few hours so I can get it quickly.

Thanks

For cases I'd suggest either of these. You can get them at places like newegg.com and directron.com. Or similar Chieftec/Antec cases.

For a great heatsink that bolts to the mobo I suggest the SLK900. It can fit up to a Vantec Tornado 92x38mm fan which has 119 cfm. svc.com, kdc.com, crazypc.com and newegg are some good places to get heatsinks.

Other heatsink like the SLK800/SK7 are also very good. But you do need to test out several screwdrivers first and use one that best fits the slot securely, to prevent slippage.

I've yet to use anything water cooled so I can't suggest anything there.

there are 4 cased at that url. i was hoping for one that looked "cooler" with lights n such :p (i'm a riceboy i guess) but my main concern is cooling

thanks for the info on the heatsinks too. i'll check them out.

PS i dont need a power supply, have a 350w antec that seems to do just fine. any cases that dont come with a psu?

The PlusView1000AMG includes no power supply. You can always add cathodes and lights.

Check out more cases here. or look around newegg and directron, they all have many to chose from.

i just want a case that has spots for fans everywhere

2 in back, 2 on top, 1 in front, WHATEVER ya know?

so it will have awesome airflow

i have the side of my case off now just to help some with airflow and it is still running so hot :(

You want a badass case for $40? here you are enjoy. The case has great cooling (same as the SX1040), looks sweet, and cant take up to 5 case fans. thats probably the lowest price i've seen on these yet.

The v7 isn't too good for the latest cpu's, the v7+ however is far better. But the newer Thermalright heatsinks just plain rock the house!

For fans everywhere check out xoxide.com, they have several like that. ;)

Though I think once you changed to a better heatsink your cooling will then make you happy. And having good airflow going in and out.

edit*

That link zDmn just posted has some most eggselent prices on that case (bascially the same as the Antec)! But be sure to check out that retailer at resellerratings.com first.

**They charge $10 more for the side window. Going by the pics it looked like a window was included. I don't like deception.

Why would your comp lag because of heat? I thought Athlons don't have thermal speed regulation capacity.

I don't know about all that... But my temps get into the 60's when I play games for a short while and everything lags once it gets around 60 degrees.

i'd also like to see my overclock capabilities

I vote for the PlusView and five of these ($11 for 5 fans, and very quiet high-quality ones at that). And for a PSU, I like the Antec TruePower units :D Very quiet, good warranty, and good-quality power.

edit: don't forget to get some 3-pin-to-4-pin converters for the fans since your motherboard won't have headers for that many fans.

That might be your hd overheating. When it lags, is your hd light constantly on?
