btw this isn't my first post switched isp's and forgot my password.
Ok at last finally going to give myself a long awaited upgrade =) so now maybe I can stop stressin over lousy performance. Or so I thought.
I'm getting a Abit NF7-S (for sure)
Was going to get Amd +2500 barton (maybe still)
512MB PC3200 medium range quality (may be different now)
I was all set to get these items then I read about the +2500 Barton's multiplier being locked. OK? But u can still crank the FSB up to compensate to a degree. However how much u can get out the FSB has a lot on the quality of and oc ability of the ram. So I began to research and the more I read the more of a mess it became. I can't afford the XMS Corsair @ $140, $100 or so is most I can spend. So then I read all about the Winbond BH-5. U can find them on lower end brand name, Buffalo, Twinmos, etc. Ok sounds great and about $100. One catch. They stopped making the BH-5, so they are a pain to find. Then there's the CH-5's, etc etc etc. What I am wanting to do is even though the multiplier is locked on the Barton I still want to get it and overclock the FSB somewhere around 200mhz +/-. So I just need to know what ram will accomplish this and will be rock stable at this setting.
Thanks
*oh and I'm not getting 2x256mb sticks b/c I plan on adding an additional 512mb stick in next couple months
A good laugh===> Upgrading from a TBird 850mhz, Abit KT7a & 256MB PC133
