Hi all!
I have already started to update my computer because mu old motherboard got broken.. so for now i have an Abit IC7-G motherboard with 2X256 mb pc3200 twinmos memory but only a P4 2,6 (pc400) old cpu with stock cooling.. running this setup in 2912mhz stable but a bit warm on full load around 58 degrees. SO what i want to do is buying a new cpu and was thinking of Zalman 700cu for the cooling. But what cpu is ok to buy? Iv seen many people choose 2,4c and oc like hell is that the best cpu to oc? What about 2,6 or 2,8 this cpus is at farly good price too or should i go higher?

You can't go wrong with the 2.4 or 2.6c. Your load temp is about the same as mine, and I don't even overclock.

2.4C. But I dont think you need a new CPU. Maybe better cooling. Still plenty of life in that CPU.

Check the Following first.
www.overclockers.com for the type of combo you plan to put together.

If you do decide to buy a CPU.
www.newegg.com is also good for looking at succesfull chip/combo's.

3gigs are gonna be 278 soon :)

My 2.4C only goes to 2980MHz (could be my ram/mobo tho)

So im gonna think of a 3gig when they are cheap!

I think Ive seen the best balance of memory speed potential to cpu speed potential out of the 2.6C. The 2.4 often max out the mem before the cpu is maxed out and the 2.8 often maxes out on the cpu end before the memory. Temps are ok for stock cooling, but they would get a lot better with a good hsf.

i'll be trying a 1.8ghz P4m soon in my ic7 max3

this thing should really be able to max out since it runs default on 1.3v

heh this should be interesting
