I have the following parts I have just assembled:

A64 3500+
MSI NF3 Neo2
2 x 512MB OCZ3700EB
Thermaltake Venus 12
EVGA 6800GT

I am currently running with the following settings:

Core Speed: 2500 @ 1.55V in bios, actual voltage 1.504V

Multiplier: 10
HTT: 250 (set to 4x in bios)

Ram settings, running 1:1 at 2.7V
Cas 3
Ras to Cas 2
Ras precharge 2
Cycle time 8
Bank Cycle time 7
DRAM Idle timer 256

I have been playing games for the last hour or so. Idle temp is around 47C. Under load, not so sure.

It has been pretty stable, though it has dropped to desktop a couple times.

My thing is it just doesn't seem much quicker than my P4C800E 2.8C rig.

As far as my settings go am I on the right track or should I be doing something differently?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks

Im not an expert, but I think the only time there will be a noticable difference is during certain very CPU- heavy gaming situations, like some situations in Unreal 2004, but in most other games, a difference between those two cpus will be there but be somewhat difficult to detect without benchmarking.

Doom 3 mainly. It did not cut it at 2500, I am running 240x10 now and its much better.

I just am looking for some advice on what settings to adjust to get the most out of this rig.

I'm very interested to see what you can come up with. I have the same mobo, processor, and RAM, so I might attempt whatever overclock you get. By the way, I just put my computer together yesterday, and moving from a 1.8GHz Dell 8100, I have to admit that *most* thiings that I do on my computer only seem a tad faster. I ripped a DVD and converted it to DivX last night, and then I really saw the difference. Also, once I get a new graphics card, I'll hopefully see the difference in games too.

A funny thing is .... the reason I decided to upgrade was that I downloaded the beta of windows media player 10 a couple months ago, and my computer couldn't play hi-def video -- it was all choppy. So I decided that I had to upgrade. Good news is that at least the video plays smoothly now :)
