Need some advice on Ram for OC'ing

Right now i am going with crucial ballistix 2x1gb DDR500 along with a dfi ultra-d and a x2 3800+. Plan is to hit 2.5ghz on stock voltages with a xp90 for HSF, antec p-180 tower, Forton AX500-A in a non SLI setup. The ballistix is going to give me what i want but is expensive. I was reading on some G.Skill ram, Muskin redline, and OCZ. Plan is to go @250-260 with the ram without using a divider.

Any suggestions or is it best to just stick with ballistix?

I would consider getting 550 ram to give you some headroom, or even allow you to use the good kind of devider. Frankly, RAM from OCZ, G.Skill, Mushkin, and Crucial is about the same, as long as it's rated the same, uses quality chips, etc., which they all generally do. I would look for whatever is the cheapest at the time of your purchase. People will tell you that some particular RAM is particularly good, but really it's an issue of what the cheapest ram at a given rating is at a given time. Since your getting a 3800+, I'm assuming your on a budget.

Eh.. not too much of a budget but just one that represents the performance gained!

If you didnt mean normal 3800+ then sorry but i am getting a dual core x2 3800+. I would go for a 4400+ but that depends on how much more overtime i get and still i am unsure if the extra cache will help me that much on the mmorpgs, hack n slash, dungeon crawlers i plan to play.

Full system specs are:
antec p-180
forton AX500-A
DFI LP UT Ultra-D
AMD X2 3800+
Crucial DDR500 2x1gb Ballistix
Thermalright XP-90

The only reason i am springing for a X2 right now is because i wont be going M2 until 2007 when i know wtf AMD is going to do with this whole DDR3 bit, and PCI-E II and all this crap. So by that time games will use dual core and then i will get my money back =p. Its for future proofing the system for a few years.

I mean i can up the voltage on the ram to 2.9 if i had to.. but either way i will end up having to try and active cool the darn things. Which means i can go past 2.9 if i have to anyhow, which means if i can save 40-50bucks on 2x1gb ram for ocing that is good enough then hey... that is the issue atm =)
