i have two cards in mind from newegg:

ECS N8800GT-512MX

or

XFX PVT88PYSF4

which would be my best bet, or any other recommendations at the same price point? i have the inspiron 530 from that EPP deal awhile back. also, i really want a card that is quiet. thanks for the advice!

I would get an evga or xfx card. Especially if you are one of those people that hold onto a card for 5+ years since these guys will actually honor the lifetime warranty and even give you a free upgrade to a newer model if the card you own is no longer being produced. Not to mention it slightly increases their resale value.

But in all honesy almost all of these cards are simply rebadged reference boards, so they would all be the same.

You should also take into effect a 3rd party heatsink if you are planning on overclocking. If you are instantly going to remove the stock heatsink then your 150-160 card is actually much more.

I have the evga 8800gt and its a beast. Overclocks to 740/1825/2000 with ease. Hope this helps.
