Need some advice!!!! Job interview as well as HW reviews

I am interviewing for a job tomorrow, and it is a fairly high level tech support position, while also making recommendations to the VP of IT for future hardware purchases. While AT is a good source of information on internal compnents, I need a a few sites that can help me review complete business systems, suchs as Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, etc. I will need to be able to review, compare, and contrast each of the systems. I will also need to be able to generate reports and document my recommendations as well. What are the best sites for doing this?

Probably the most well known for complete Name Brand System reviews is any one of the ZDNet.com group of magazines....PC Magazine regularly does reviews of such systems.

Other sites, such as SharkyExtreme, SysOpt.com and some others do occasional "once in a blue moon" looks at Dell systems and such.

One place that might be worth looking at is CADalyst.com. Their workstation reviews do cover some of the more high powered systems from Dell, Compaq and HP.

Take all those reveiw sites with a grain of salt though man... they, as everyones, are opinions... some honest, some biased, some not...

For me (I am in the same possition as the job you are describing) the best way, is to establish contacts with people you know that work in other companies and compare experiences with the systems they are using. It's difficult to get your list of contacts strong, but if you use News Groups for example, you can get in contact with a Lot of "Experienced" people who Know what they are talking about.

Forums are a Waste as they are 99% garage hobbiest and only know what they learned from their fellow garage hobbiest. No pun guys.

Use New Groups to make Contacts is my .02
