I need some help in determining wether a certain power supply is adequate for the computer i am going to build. Recently i have decided to build my first computer, but while thinking through any problems that could occur, I have been thinking that maybe the power supply isnt adequate enough for this computer. The power supply is an LCT brand 300 watt. I dont think its that great of a power supply therefor i am asking for your help in determining if it can handle this computer. What the comp is made of: MSI K7T PRO 2A mother board, AMD Athlon 1.1 ghz, Leadtek Winfast GeForce 2, 30.7 Maxtor HD, a bunch of other good things but with knowing all that and the fact that this computer will have a cdrw and live drive, do you think that it will consume more power than this power supply can handle ? I dont think its a name brand, i got the case and power supply at Computer Builders Warehouse(not too much quality there). If you could please answer my question it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, lets think for a sec.

1.1 GHZ Athlon - power hungry
Geforce2 - power hungry
normal components - sort of power hungry (but not as much as the two above)

Answer - Hard to tell :p I've had that much running off of a 250 antec ps, so I'm inclined to say yes, but a bigger concern is will the power be constant and within an operable range. It can be a 400w ps and if the 5v channel can't stay even, you're in for a nasty surprise. To be safe, go buy a name brand Athlon approved power supply.

There should be a sticker on the PS, see what the outputs are/ If it puts out at least 10amps at 12v, it should pull the load just fine.
