If you can't get your gf to go see a simple movie /w you due to an rather ignorant and controlling mom, what about other matters you two will be discussing in the future that will have real relevance such as kids? Where you'll live? The lifestyle?

I've always had the motto: Let people live the way they want to live because I strongly belive in individuality and such, but if you cant' compromise /w a future partner in life about something as simple as going to the movie.......well..........I see troubles brewing ahead.

Ditto what everyone said: Live /w it or get out of it.

I think that everyone has made good points,

you obviously care for her, but can you find a way to deal with her conservative viewpoints. I think that getting her away from her mother for a while and trying to moderate her views by slowly showing her some of these so called satanic books might be very helpful.
