I'm looking for a basic full-body workout... four or five free weight exercises I can do that would work the major muscle groups.

I was thinking something along the lines of

sets/reps/exercise
3x8xBench Press
3x8xBicep Curls
3x8xShoulders
3x8xSquats
3x8x? Something with my lats?

Any ideas?

I'm running three-four days a week... might try to incorporate situps into my weight-lifting routine (as one of the five or six).

Are you on a program currently? Cause if you're not and you're just getting back into lifting, a workout like that will absolutely kill you. You'll be so sore for about 2 days that it'll be hard just to move. Try working out individual muscle groups until you get into the swing of things. After that, there are 3 exercises that are huge when it comes to incorparating your total body:

Powerclean
Squats
Deadlift

Those 3 exercises will also stimulate muscle growth as much or more then any other exercises out there.

I always liked Chest/Tris, Back and Bis, Legs and Shoulders, then pushups + abs on whatever days I would do cardio.

Also, Zakath, what are you trying to accomplish in your workout?

I'd say is safe to go back in to it straight just go easy on the weights first of all. Don't do anything more then 70% of what you were doing if you were out of it for a while.

Bench press (pecs)
Military press (shoulders)
Powercleans (very good works a lot of muscles)
Squats (legs + glutes)
Pull ups (lats)

If you want to add variety every 2nd work out cut out Military press and do *Bent Forward Rows*

Power CLean = cleaning very very fast and vigrously :p j/k

Its hard to describe as it would involve a lot of text to describe it and then you would probably do it wrong but here are a few links:

Here
More from google to shift through

Easy to do once you know how to do it:D

That's what I suspected a powerclean was... I've seen a lot of guys do it.

Just have to find someone who can help me out with it.

I may spend the next two weeks just doing some basic exercises, just to get back in the swing of things.

Oh, man... did a couple sets of deadlifts today... I'm soooo sore.

soreness good. deadlift good.

Oh, god, I'm still sore... Hopefully I can do something tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll just do the bars only, but still work the muscles.
