Ok guys, I just got out of an AIM conversation with this guy.

OP "accidentally" downloaded child porn while surfing 4chan, and wants to know how to get rid of it.

Lol, gold if true jerry, pure gold.

Well, if you are trying to cover your tracks, and you are really, really paranoid about it, I would format your drive to zeros and then drill a few holes in the platters. You could probably get away with just drilling holes in the platters.

But, if you found something illegal on someone else's PC—death threats, illicit photos, things of the sort—just call the police and let them deal with it.

Not really sure why this was brought up as a thread in the forum without more specific details, which leaves the whole post suspect...

And why are you still here? go back to that other forum and get away from us 15 yearolds.

Shut up. Your posts make no sense.

You act like you some how have authority over what someone asks, says, or does. It's quite funny actually.

This guy has to go to multiple internet message boards for guidance on a most likely inane life situation...and we are the 15 year olds?

I was asking on it for the specific situation. Mostly because I have never dealt with this before in my business. Again, if you don't want to contribute to that, go away. No one is forcing any of you to add to this thread or even read it.

I don't think you guys get it. You're acting childish. You're clearing not contributing to my thread in the way I asked. Which was pretty simple. And then, you think I actually care. It's like a gnat in my ear. You're there. You're buzzing. But, other than that.....there's nothing.

This thread is hilarious entertainment. Yes, people on the internet are dicks, but it's amusing that OP is a "one man computer repair shop" that doesn't know how to not feed trolls.

I'm embarrassed for you that you still use aim.

^ Truth. lol \o/ <---party time lulz

^ if OP truly wasn't phazed by trolls at all, he wouldn't counter-post. But obviously, he is.

Trolls 1, OP 0

It doesn't matter. Feed the troll, don't feed the troll. How about ban the troll. I get hassled because of some lame vague paypal rule that still has never been fully explained. Much less found on paypal. Yet thread crapping like this is tolerated here.

Oh look, even a rule

"1) No trolling, flaming or personally attacking members. Deftly attacking ideas and backing up arguments with facts is acceptable and encouraged. Attacking other members personally and purposefully causing trouble with no motive other than to upset the crowd is not allowed.
"

We'll see if that goes anywhere. lol

I'd rather handle this via maybe AIM or yahoo messeneger rather than openly on the forum.

Anyway, it's in regards to personal information found on a customers computer while I was working on it.

Hopefully someone here has experience with this.

AIM: antiriceforlife
Yahoo: valenciapcrepair

Having worked on countless customer machines, my advice is that unless that information would obligate you to go to the authorities you need to just get the job done and mind your business.

I will say, however, that if you're working on this, I hope to shit your customers have signed something that absolves you from the responsibility of data loss and that they can't take you to court to sue you over whatever you may/may not find or to court because they brought in a PC with a bad HDD, it died in your custody and they lost all their precious data and now want your money, blah blah blah.

Trust me on that one :p

Lots of my old customers used IM clients. I used a global client that connected to damn near everything so all I had to do was create an account, config the client, and simply launch the application each morning at work.

Customers love that they can get in touch with you at their convenience. It's a big selling point (or was), noobs.

I'm pretty sure nothing was accomplished in this thread. This thread should have been in P&N.

this thread is now about cats
The proper word is "pussy". :p

Back in the day when I worked at Best Buy (mid 90's), our tech was asked to remove a VHS tape a good looking lady claimed had a personal video of her. The machine was jammed of course but tech took care of that.
