My Fiancee and I are looking at getting into some basic biking, not racing or anything like that, just hit some local trails, and tool around a bit. We've been to couple shops, and looked at a few bikes, Holly is like 5'1" and I'm 6'5" so for me I'm looking at a 20" and she's looking at a 14" or 15". We're looking to spend under $300 per bike. What are brands etc, we saw a Schwinn, a Timberland GT, and a Giant. We know nothing about bikes at this point so any advice would be very very helpful.

Thanks,

-Max

Haro for value and comfort. Especially in the $300 range.

Ebay. Or buy my 21" Jamis Dakar Expert for $600 before I put it on ebay tomorrow :)

Check out a singlespeed. I bought my specialized singlespeed on ebay for $300. I like the simplicity. No shifters no deraileurs.
