need some accident advice...

Exactly the same accident happened to me last month, except that it was at a stop sign.

I offered to pay out of my pocket but the female driver eventually chose to go through insurance.

I think it is better off letting the insurance handle it.

Yeah spoke to my parents a few minutes ago and they said go through insurance as well. Looks like I won't be buying that WRX anymore (insurance will be ridiculous after this here in NJ)..

I'd let insurance cover it ... but sucks that you will have to give up your WRX dreams.

your insurance will go up either way with the ticket, and from the insurance companies i've had, if you have a ticket that is coupled with an accident, they only put 1 of the 2 on your record. they can't jack your rates twice for the same incident.

were the cops there? and did you exchange insurance?

If both are no... give her the finger and walk away. She is trying to do the same to you so I find no problem here. She just sees the opportunity to get some free money. Screw people like that ... you have no legal obligation... it is her vs. you if she had the cahoneys to bring it to court.

Tell her there is no way I did that damage and there is no way it costs that much. Tell here that she is either going to be honest or you are done. You have no obligation.

Same here, at a stop sign, guy in front of me starts to move, I look left thinking the guy in front of me wasn't there any more than smack into his bumper.

I offered to pay out of my pocket, which he was fine with, so a day passes, I call, he assures me that he'll contact me after he gets his car checked out at the shop... then the next day I get a call from my insurance telling me that the guy filed a medical claim saying he got injured. Luckily though for me, and thanks in part to the guy's stupidity, he told me that he was involved in a the same type of accident the same day in the morning, and showed me the damage to his front bumper, so I notify my insurance about his earlier incident, and I never hear a thing about the medical claim again.
