Need software alarm for failing/failed fan

My tower PC has 4 fans:

1. CPU
2. Front case fan (blows into case)
3. Rear case fan (exhausts air out of case)
4. Power supply fan (exhausts air out of case)

I just discovered that the front case fan failed and is not spinning at all. I don't know how long it's been like this. So I currently have the case cover off with a desk fan blowing into the case until the replacement fan is received.

The failed fan (#2 above) shows as none in the BIOS so I suspect the failure is an open circuit in the fan. I also installed "SpeedFan" and it shows only the CPU fan and rear case fan with rpm values with zero rpm for all other fans.

I want to install a software that I can tell which fans are installed and will display an alarm on my computer screen if any of those fans is failing or died. Any recommendations?

PS: In case it helps, my motherboard is an Asus P8H67-V. The two case fans are PWM, 80mm, 4pin fans.

Thanks,

Does it matter? Surely you would hear when the CPU and GPU fans go flat out? Why not always keep an eye on temps, so you can see if something is going wrong?

Anyway I think you should have something in your bios that tells you when a fan has failed, there should be someone slightly more clued you in this area.

Yes, very much so. I don't want my PC to overheat and eventually fail.

Usually fans start squealing as their bearings start failing. In this case, there was no warning at all. The fan just stopped spinning. My tower is pretty quiet with the PWM control slowing down the fans. It's not noticeable if one of the 4 fans stops spinning.

I have the BIOS for my motherboard set for the minimum case fan speed of 600 rpm. But I've never been able to get the motherboard beeper to work. This is a self build PC and I connected a beeper to the correct mobo pins but it never beeps. This is why I want a software program that will pop up a warning alarm on my screen.

No such program I know of. A computer can't tell if a fan is dying.
The software "speedfan" can display the rpm of fans. So if a software knows the rpm, it could display an alarm if the rpm falls below a value set by the user. Like 600 rpm for case fans for instance. This would be one way to detect that a fan is failing or died.

The software would have to allow the user to designate which monitored fans are in use. This way if there is an open circuit in the fan, the software would know that zero rpm is a failed fan and not an uninstalled fan.

This should work for monitored fans like the CPU fan and case fans. It would not work for the fan(s) in the power supply that is/are not monitored.

Hey Zoomer, Don't panic.
Your PC will shut down if it overheats. Clean it out on a regular basis and check the fans then. If it makes you feel better change them out once a year.
